Jose Mourinho has come out fighting against the Tottenham Hotspur fans present at Old Trafford for the 3-0 defeat on Monday night.
Manchester United’s first-half domination wasn’t made to count before Tottenham stunned the ground with three goals after the break to inflict Mourinho’s worst-ever defeat on home soil.
As the Theatre of Dreams watched on in silence, the travelling supporters were enjoying themselves a came up with a popular chant aimed towards the Man United manager; “You’re not special anymore.”
Mourinho was asked about the chant in his pre-match press conference ahead of United’s trip to Burnley on Sunday afternoon and he made his opinions very clear.
“Yeah, but they didn’t have that song when we beat them at Wembley a couple of months ago, a cup final the had a big dream to go to, a title they had a big dream to win because they don’t win many.”
United bettered Spurs on two of three occasions last season, including in the FA Cup Semi-final at Wembley Stadium, so you can tell why Mourinho isn’t exactly bothered by what the fans are chanting.
Mourinho will be looking to soften the departure rumours by winning at Burnley on Sunday afternoon to go into the international break on a positive note.
