Cameras managed to capture Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba sharing a painfully frosty exchange at the start of training today.
The 55-year-old confirmed after Manchester United’s humiliating League Cup defeat to Derby County that Pogba had been stripped of the vice-captaincy indefinitely.
James Ducker from the Telegraph confirmed earlier today that Pogba had told Mourinho he wanted to leave the club in the summer. ESPN‘s Mark Ogden, an hour later, claimed in a report that many senior dressing room figures were “angry and frustrated” with the manager.
And this piece of footage from Carrington this morning of Pogba and Mourinho having a clearly very intense passive aggressive exchange has only compounded the notion that things are not well behind the scenes at Old Trafford.
JUST IN! 😳

This is bad. This looks really, really bad. Firstly, look at Pogba’s eyes. Look at the hatred in his eyes. He turned to Mourinho, almost reluctantly, and the manager said something which made his blood boil. As you can see, the exchange rumbles on, and it feels impregnated with tension.
Mourinho would have known the cameras were rolling. Mourinho knows every factor of a situation. He would have known how this exchange looked.
It is no overstatement to assert that the relationship between Mourinho and Pogba has become toxic, and therefore untenable. Put simply: this is a massive mess.
