Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has been praised for his selfless actions in the aftermath of the club’s humiliating 3-1 loss to West Ham United at the weekend.
Despite the heavy defeat to a side who came into Saturday lunchtime’s game in the relegation zone, Shaw was one of only a few players to properly go over to Man United’s travelling support and thank those who had made their way down to London for the game.
With it being a 12:30PM kick-off, many United had had to get up in the silly hours of the morning to make it to the game from Manchester. Shaw showed his thanks, and made one young girl’s day by giving her his shirt.
Shaw’s gesture was certainly appreciated by the United away fans, who had very little to cheer about at the London Stadium. The Reds haven’t seen much go their way already this season, and there’s a wholly negative mood at the club.
Small actions like Shaw’s ensures the relationship between the players and the fans remains good, and it’s great to see him showing his appreciation.
The England left-back has had a good season and is finally the first-choice in his position at United after struggling in Jose Mourinho’s first two campaigns at the club. He’s now rightly earning the plaudits for his displays.
