Alexis Sanchez has become the latest in a string of Manchester United players to fall out with manager Jose Mourinho.
The Chilean has been wholly unimpressive since moving north to Manchester from Arsenal in January of this year. Henrikh Mkhitaryan went the other way in a straight-swap deal. The Armenian has been poor since the move at the London club.
Both players have failed to find their best form and Mourinho has finally worn weary of Sanchez’s dreary displays where he offers little to Man United’s play.
After being subbed off for a fourth consecutive game, Sanchez’s relationship with Mourinho is now at ‘rock bottom’.
The Sun reports that Sanchez was furious with the United boss after being hooked against Valencia in a 0-0 draw. He had already been frustrated by the fact that he was started on the right flank rather than the left.
Having joined only nine months ago, Sanchez already feels ‘betrayed’ by Mourinho, who supposedly promised him a different kind of role at United to the one he has enjoyed. Sanchez turned down a move to Premier League champions Manchester City to join United.
The Sun now suggests that Sanchez is speaking with his agent to discuss how to sort out his situation.
The truth is, though, that whatever Sanchez was promised is irrelevant. He has not delivered his side of the bargain, which is good performances on a consistent basis. He’s created so few chances, scored so few goals and been so poor that there is no reason for him to play in his favoured position and hardly any reason to play him at all.
