Luke Shaw is on the verge of agreeing a new contract at Manchester United, according to the BBC‘s David Ornstein.
The Englishman has enjoyed a sensational start to the 2018/19 campaign, winning the club’s ‘Player of the Month’ award twice in a row.
Reports over the last month have suggested that Shaw, whose contract expires in June, was to be rewarded with a new deal this season.
And Ornstein, via Man United journalist Simon Stone, has confirmed that the two parties are ‘close’ to agreeing a fresh contract, adding that precise details were yet to be finalised.
Via colleague @bbcsport_david, Luke Shaw close to agreeing new long-term contract with Man Utd. Precise details still to be finalised. Lots of those to be done – or not – over next few months.

United will, as Stone suggests, have their hands full when it comes to tying up new deals over the campaign. 11 players in total are out of contract next summer or the next and among them are Anthony Martial, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Andreas Pereira.
And Shaw, no doubt, should be at the top of the list. He has fought like a demon to defy the odds and establish himself in United’s starting XI, coming out as one of the top performers each week.
With the promising Diogo Dalot on the other side, United have a full-back partnership which could sustain for many years.
