Pogba was stripped of the vice captaincy by Mourinho ahead of losing to Derby County and, on the following day, engaged in a frosty training ground dispute with the 55-year-old which was seen by the whole world.
Their relationship has been rocky since the pair argued on the pitch during a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur back in January. Pogba, who criticised Mourinho’s playing style last month, has repeatedly refused to rule out joining Barcelona next summer.
But according to M.E.N‘s Samuel Luckhurst, Mourinho believes that the poisonous influence of Mino Raiola, who the club refused to do business with over the summer, and Pogba’s wider entourage are the main reasons behind the pair’s ongoing conflict at Old Trafford. “Pogba is not the problem, it’s the people he listens to,” Mourinho is claimed to have said.
The Portuguese sought to soothe relations between the two by handing him the captain’s armband but it has not worked. Mourinho’s deeply critical managerial persona and negative tactics have not sat well with the Pogba camp. Raiola will, no doubt, seek to cause as much disruption as possible ahead of forcing a move to Barcelona next summer if Mourinho is still there.
