Bournemouth star Nathan Ake has denied reports that have linked him to Manchester United are true.
The Dutchman emerged as one of the possible candidates that Jose Mourinho is looking to bring in to the club.
The Portuguese manager has complained previously that his defensive options don’t have the technical quality to bring the ball out of the defence.
Ake is the type of centre-back capable of doing so and would probably not cost United too much in terms of transfer fees.
Nonetheless it appears the reports were simply rumours and nothing more though Mourinho should potentially explore the option.
According to Metro, Nathan said to Football Oranje: “I’ve seen it pass by but of course it’s rumours. At the moment I play at Bournemouth and that is going well, so I focus on that.
“This does not say much about my status yet. They are rumours on the internet and as long as I do not hear anything myself, I will not go into that.”
The only other player the Red Devils have who is a good passer is Victor Lindelof though he’s struggled to make a name for himself so far.
The Swede enjoyed a solid World Cup and appeared set to carry that form into his club football but unfortunately that hasn’t been the case.
Jose has also continuously chopped and changed his centre-backs so far this season which is hardly going to provide any kind of stability.
The former Chelsea manager’s public comments about his transfer dealings wouldn’t have instilled confidence in his several defenders either.
