The defender, who spent two campaigns on the periphery under Jose Mourinho, stated over the summer that he wanted to earn a new deal at Old Trafford.
And he has done exactly that, churning out dedicated, accomplished performances each game and deservedly winning the club’s ‘Player of the Month’ award for August and September.
According to ESPN correspondent Rob Dawson, Shaw signed a new deal at Carrington earlier this morning and has seen his existing wage of £100,000-a-week significantly improve to make him one of the highest earning defenders in the Premier League.
The BBC’s Sid Stoney and the Times’ Paul Hirst have at the same time corroborated the news, making it only a matter of time before the club itself announces the new deal for Shaw.

That photo of Shaw on a boat feels like a long time ago. The penny has dropped for the defender in a big way. Shaw said in an interview with the Guardian in July that, following a few years of injuries and general dithering, he had become a man, and his performances back that up.
A week before pre-season, while others were still enjoying their holidays, Shaw was in the 40 degrees Dubai sun working his socks off. That is the mentality which has earned him a new – and totally deserved – contract at United.
