FC Barcelona’s players are desperate to see Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba signed by the club.
Stars Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique, both influential voices within the club itself in terms of decision-making, feel that Pogba would add a lot to the squad, according to the Daily Mail.
The Frenchman is also friends with his international teammates Samuel Umtiti and Ousmane Dembele.
However, scouts at the La Liga club are not certain that Pogba is the right player for Barcelona.
Some believe that Pogba takes too many risks on the ball to fit into Barcelona’s simple yet beautiful tika-taka style of play and that his positional discipline is far from good enough. Others are keen on the 25-year-old, who is also wanted by manager Ernesto Valverde.
Those flaws in Pogba’s play are reportedly not important to Barcelona’s players who see Pogba as adding the necessary brawn to their side who have fallen to bad defeats in the UEFA Champions League in recent seasons.
Despite all of this, it’s not clear whether Barcelona can afford Pogba after the hugely expensive signings of Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho. The Spanish club made only £9.6 million profit in the last year despite achieving a large revenue. The Pogba deal could easily reach up to £200 million with transfer fee, wages, agent fees and signing on fees.
