Manchester United have confirmed on their official website that Luke Shaw has agreed a new five-year contract at the club following the defender’s excellent start to the 2018/19 season.
Various media outlets, such as the BBC and ESPN, confirmed on Thursday morning that Shaw had put pen to paper on a new deal which takes his salary to £160,000-a-week, making him one of the highest earning Premier League defenders.
Shaw made it clear over the summer that he wanted to prove he was worthy of a new deal. He was the sharpest player over pre-season and has, without much of a contest, won both ‘Player of the Month’ awards so far this season.
The club confirmed today that Shaw’s efforts this season have been rewarded with a new five-year deal.
It's official – congrats to @LukeShaw23 on his new #MUFC contract! ✍️

Many thought it would never happen but Shaw, in truly emphatic fashion, has come of age at this level. He noted in July that he had transformed from a boy to a man over the summer. His performances – ruthlessly energetic, tidy, skilful and daring – have shown he was not lying.
Nobody ever doubted Shaw’s ability. He has, since the age of 18, been regarded as one of the best full-backs in the country. Supporters will be delighted to see Shaw finally proving that fact to the watching world.
