Wayne Rooney‘s sensational form for DC United in the MLS continued as the former Manchester United captain rifled home a spectacular free-kick against Toronto.
Man United’s all-time top goalscorer, who joined DC United back in July, has been showing the same talismanic, electric attacking form which propelled him to worldwide stardom all those years ago.
He has netted ten times in 18 games, claiming six assists in the process and overseeing a monumental change in the club’s fortunes.
Here is a video of Rooney’s truly perfect free-kick, which proved enough to give DC United a 1-0 win.

It would not be outrageous to suggest that Rooney has been one of the signings of the summer.
When DC United signed him they were five points adrift at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. 18 games later, they find themselves in the play-off spots, just six points behind third placed New York City FC. There haven’t been many players to elicit such tangible and rapid change in the MLS as Rooney.
Moreover, Rooney has put DC United on the global footballing map. When he joined nobody was fussed about the move. Now, however, everybody in the football world knows exactly who DC United are, and who is leading their resurgence.
