The Frenchman looked set on moving away from Old Trafford over the summer following a difficult second season under Jose Mourinho during which he was sidelined for Alexis Sanchez.
But Martial’s positive start to the campaign, recently scoring twice at Stamford Bridge, has convinced him to remain at Old Trafford and fight for his place.
And according to Dawson, the 22-year-old will put pen to paper at Man United after rejecting advances from other high profile European clubs.
There was a tangible change of tune from Martial’s camp between late August and early September. Perhaps the club made a proposal which made a kind of breakthrough with his representatives, or maybe Martial has simply realised that, with Alexis struggling, he can force his way into this team. He has certainly showed a renewed sense of determination in recent weeks.
There is also probably a general feeling that Mourinho, who has not necessarily helped with Martial’s development, will not last long at the Old Trafford, whereas the Frenchman is a strong fan favourite who Ed Woodward desperately wants to keep.
