Manchester United are reportedly engaged in a race to sign young French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.
The 21-year-old is attracting interest from a whole host of Premier League clubs and Man United are included. Jose Mourinho’s rivals Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are also looking at Ndombele.
It’s rare now that one top English club is linked with a foreign player without another also taking a look at them.
The Olympique Lyonnais man is seen as one of Europe’s most talented young midfielders and he’s broken into the French national team in recent months as Didier Deschamps look to build on their World Cup glory.
The Daily Mirror report that United, as well as Chelsea, sent scouts to watch Ndombele in Lyon’s UFEA Champions League fixture against Hoffenheim last Tuesday.
Ndombele is a box-to-box midfielder and some reports have indicated that he is one of Tottenham’s main targets going forward. He could, however, cost in excess of £55 million.
French outlets have previously claimed that Spurs had a £40 million bid rejected by Lyon.
All young players from Ligue 1 now come at a premium, with the league having a good record for bringing through fine young talents like Anthony Martial, who signed for United for £36 million back in 2015.
