Manchester United fans want Alexis Sanchez to start against AFC Bournemouth – but not Romelu Lukaku

Most Manchester United supporters are against the idea of Alexis Sanchez or Romelu Lukaku returning to the starting XI against AFC Bournemouth on Sunday.

That said, a considerable number want to see how Alexis, at the expense of Jesse Lingard, operates under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s quicker, more aggressive style of play in the final third.

The same cannot be said for Romelu Lukaku, whose popularity among the fanbase has dwindled amid a terrible run of form during which the Belgian has scored just twice since mid-September.

Both players are in contention to play against Bournemouth, but Solskjaer made it clear in Friday’s press conference that the pair would need to earn their place back in the starting XI. We put it to the good people of Twitter to see whether they wanted either player to start.

Many like the idea of Alexis, freed from the shackling effect of Mourinho’s tactics, buzzing around the final third alongside Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. This is, without doubt, a truly tantalising prospect.

There were others who took this question as an opportunity to bash Lukaku. His stock is at an all time low among many supporters and placing him in the starting XI at the expense of Rashford, having impressed so much against Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town, would be unjust.
