Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms Paul Pogba is an injury doubt for Reading clash

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Paul Pogba is an injury doubt ahead of Manchester United’s FA Cup third round meeting with Reading at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The Frenchman, whose form has skyrocketed under the caretaker manager, was clattered in truly reckless fashion by Jonjo Shelvey during Man United’s 2-0 win over Newcastle United.

He managed to play for the final few minutes with the knock but was seen hobbling as he returned to Man United’s coach after the game.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Solskjaer noted that the 25-year-old was a doubt after such a nasty challenge.

“Rojo, Smalling out,” he said. “I’m not sure if Paul’s going to be ready, he got a knock against Newcastle. And if Fellaini gets through the training session today it’s more or less a full squad.”

Pogba has played every single minute of the Solskjaer era to storming effect, serving as a dangerous creative catalyst down the middle as United have rediscovered what passing forwards is like.

But he does not need to play against Reading. The festive schedule has been punishing and, with Tottenham Hotspur coming up, Solskjaer ought to give Fred a chance to impress in the role which Pogba has enjoyed so far under the new managerial arrangement.
