Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stated ahead of embarking on Manchester United’s five-day Dubai training camp that his team was primarily there to work on fitness.
But there is another benefit of leaving the freezing sogginess of Carrington for the baking Dubai sun.
Like with any holiday or trip to another country, the players and staff would have benefitted from a different environment in which to communicate, re-calibrate, learn, and relax as well. Placing yourself in a different environment provides a sense of distance, as if you were stepping out of your everyday mind. It is a chance to distance yourself from yourself. And that can be extremely productive.
With that in mind, here are a few of the things other than football which United players have been up to during their time in Dubai.
A number of players, including Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial, visited the Nus-ret steakhouse, owned by the Turkish internet sensation “Salt Bae”.
