Revealed: Yannick Carrasco to Manchester United may be on

by Marwan Harraz

Dalian Yifang star Yannick Carrasco could be Manchester United’s next major signing after his wife’s latest comments surfaced.

The Belgian emerged as a potential transfer target after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were said to be keen on bringing in a talented right-winger.

Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata have often been deployed in that position but it’s clear to see neither truly excel on that flank.

While the Englishman is slightly better on the right-wing than the Spaniard, both players actually enjoy the attacking midfield slot more.

Carrasco would offer plenty in that role especially given how he’s two footed and can feature on either flank.

Yannick’s wife Noemie Happart had said: “There are a lot of things going on, he has been called by a lot of clubs.

“A lot of clubs are interested, nothing concrete, nothing has been signed yet.

“Yes, they [United and Arsenal] are very interested. I do not hide it, but nothing is signed.”

Carrasco is unlikely to be a bargain signing and his wages may be a little steep after his short spell in China.

The winger is more likely than not testing the waters to see if any clubs are willing to approach him with a more formal offer.

United are understood to be holding off on any major signings until the summer when their managerial future is clearer.

Solskjaer’s superb start to his interim manager role has complicated plans to bring in Tottenham Hotspurs’ Mauricio Pochettino once the current season is over.
