Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised Alexis Sanchez after his performance vs Arsenal, claiming it was a big step forward for him.
The Chilean hasn’t managed to hit the heights of his ability at Old Trafford but is keen to impress his new manager.
Many players have experienced revivals with Solskjaer at the helm and fans are excited to see if the same can happen to Sanchez.
The winger had a huge test facing his old side in Arsenal but his opening goal allowed United to have the confidence to go on and win 3-1.
Alexis could be set to experience a great second-half to the season and with his versatility he can prove to be more than useful.
According to Goal, Ole said: “You try to sit him down and speak to him but he’s a really hard-working, proud man, and he is really determined to prove his worth.
“He has been fantastic since I came. His work rate in training has been brilliant.
“Unfortunately, he has had the injuries, but I think [Friday] is a big, big step forward for him.”
With Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford thriving it’s tough to see just where Sanchez can fit in for the long term.
The former Barcelona star has had experience on the right-flank and it’s arguably the position Manchester United’s attack struggles the most.
If Alexis can rediscover his best form in that role then it would be a ‘two birds, one stone’ situation and the club can focus their spending in more needed areas on the pitch.
