Gary Neville: Beating Liverpool should win Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Manchester United job

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes there’s no way Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be denied the permanent managerial role if he beats Liverpool.

The two giants of English football clash on Sunday afternoon as the Reds attempt to win their first Premier League title.

United are chasing a top four spot as well, meaning whoever wins the match it will help their cause greatly.

With Tottenham losing to Burnley there’s even more incentive for Solskjaer and his men as they could attempt to overtake them in third.

Neville has been a fan of the Norwegian’s work so far and insists it’ll be difficult to deny him the position if he continues to win matches.

According to Sky Sports, Gary said: “Two or three months ago he would have been hopeful of getting the job, but if he beats Liverpool on Sunday then I can’t see any way he wouldn’t get it.

“It shouldn’t be defined by one game but to beat Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and then Liverpool it would almost make it impossible for him not to get the job.

“It is an incredible body of results and would make it a lot more difficult to withhold it from him if he keeps beating team after team.”

Since being appointed in December Ole has only lost one match, the Champions League fixture to PSG though the second leg could still be saved.

The Red Devils incredible form has seen them march into fourth place but they’ll have to fight to keep it until the season ends.

Arsenal and Chelsea are breathing heavily down their necks as six teams all try to squeeze into the four Champions League spots.

Many, including Jose Mourinho himself, believed such a position would be impossible for Manchester United to get in to but thanks to Solskjaer’s incredible turnaround, the club is well positioned for the first time this season.
