Manchester United given huge boost in pursuit of Lille’s Nicolas Pepe

Manchester United fans can start to get excited over a potential summer signing after receiving a huge boost in their pursuit of Lille’s Nicolas Pepe.

The Ligue 1 star has been in fantastic form this season which has seen him linked to numerous top European clubs.

Some United supporters believe Pepe is the ideal right-wing signing given his ability to grab both goals and assists.

Although they have the likes of Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata for that position, neither truly enjoy being shunned out wide.

Meanwhile the Lille star is a natural winger who could add to the Red Devils’ already youthful, dangerous attacking talent.

According to the Sun, Lille manager Christophe Galtier said: “Nicolas Pepe is having a great season and he will continue to improve.

“He has to go to a Champions League club. In my opinion, he does not need an intermediate step to go as high as possible.

“I can see him well in a team that plays in red.”

The right-wing is definitely a position that needs strengthening but some would argue the defence is more of a priority.

Nonetheless, in terms of English clubs, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool all wear red, although the first two are the only ones said to be interested in Nicolas.

It appears the only way one would get the advantage over the other is if they secure Champions League football for the next season.

United are currently better placed in fourth spot but the Premier League campaign has not finished yet.
