Ole Gunnar Solskjaer delivers bad news following Southampton win

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer unfortunately had bad news to share on Alexis Sanchez following the win over Southampton.

The Norwegian saw his side secure a difficult comeback victory against the Saints who proved to be stubborn opposition.

United found themselves 1-0 down at half-time at Old Trafford but managed to run out 3-2 winners.

Andreas Pereira grabbed the equaliser after a fantastic curling effort from outside of the box.

Romelu Lukaku then grabbed a brace with Southampton scoring in between both goals to make matters temporarily difficult for United.

Sanchez started the fixture in a new position in the hopes it would spark a good performance out of him.

The Chilean started at the tip of the diamond formation Ole employed with Marcus Rashford and Lukaku ahead of him.

One would expect the creative winger to be able to take advantage of having two in-form players in front of him but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.

Alexis has played in the attacking midfield position before but just not for United.

To make matters worse he couldn’t finish the match and was replaced by Diogo Dalot after picking up a knock.

Ligament injuries are typically ones that leave the injured out for a while so that may just have been Sanchez’s last match at Old Trafford.
