Tottenham ‘resigned’ to losing Toby Alderweireld to Manchester United: report

by Marwan Harraz

Tottenham have reportedly resigned to losing Toby Alderweireld to Manchester United this summer in what is surely a huge transfer boost for those at Old Trafford.

The Belgian has been sought after for two seasons now and it seems as though the club will finally get their man.

Alderweireld is said to have rejected an extension with the London club and since he has a year left on his contract, they will be forced to sell.

United have been keen on signing a top centre-back for a few transfer windows now and that hasn’t changed even with Victor Lindelof’s inspired form.

It’s believed the club want to bring in someone alongside the Swede and who better than an experienced, proven defender?

According to the Mirror, the Red Devils can seal Toby’s signature with just a £26m offer to Tottenham thanks to a clause in his contract.

In today’s transfer market that is considered a bargain but the club would have to be incredibly careful in regards to the wages they’ll be offering him and the contract length.

The last thing Manchester United want is to have an ageing, declining and expensive player rotting in their reserves because they can’t offload him.
