Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand has praised Scott McTominay for his outstanding performance vs Barcelona.
Though Fred put in a commanding shift as well, it was the Scotsman who got all the headlines.
McTominay covered so much ground fans would be forgiven for thinking there was two of him on the pitch.
Ferdinand believes with the way the academy product performed, he could be trusted in future matches too.
Scott certainly did his reputation no harm and he’s now given Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a selection headache.
According to Metro, Rio said: “He was positive, reliable. He was aggressive.
“He’s proved to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he can be trusted, which is vital for a young player. He was great all day, today.”
The pair initially started Solskjaer’s reign superbly but failed to find their form again after suffering from injury.
Luckily Scott stepped up in their absence again after his heroics in the Round of 16 clash against PSG.
When United face off against Barcelona in the second-leg, supporters shouldn’t be surprised if Ole sticks with the youngster even if Matic or Herrera are available then.
Hopefully McTominay’s trajectory can continue upwards so that he can continue developing and potentially turn into a top midfielder for the club he loves so dearly.
