Manchester United drop interest in Aaron Wan-Bissaka for Thomas Meunier: report

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United have reportedly dropped their interest in Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka for PSG’s Thomas Meunier.

The Englishman was widely believed to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top target for the right-back spot as he was said to be aiming to build a young, English core to his team.

Though not quite there yet, Wan-Bissaka has been quickly making a case to be considered the league’s best in his position with promising performances all season long.

Meunier meanwhile is believed to be the more attainable target given Crystal Palace’s high asking price.

The Belgian is a boyhood United fan as well which should translate well when it comes to purchasing his services.

According to The Sun, Diogo Dalot’s emergence this season has convinced the Red Devils to invest in a more experienced option rather than provide direct, young competition in Aaron.

Other reports had claimed the Crystal Palace star was being brought in to compete with the versatile Portuguese.

It would make sense for two youngsters to battle it out rather than bring in Thomas who may not be too keen on the lack of minutes.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial both benefitted from the spell of competition they had for the left-wing spot and perhaps the aforementioned pair could also do so.
