Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted he’s particularly keen on watching one youngster this pre-season.

The Norwegian has previously stated the desire to blood some of the club’s academy products with the likes of Tahith Chong, Angel Gomes and Mason Greenwood all being involved with the first-team of late.

With United’s more senior stars disappointing this season there should be plenty of opportunities for the kids to impress in the next campaign.

First however, they must convince Solskjaer to keep them in the first-team with the upcoming pre-season the perfect opportunity for them to prove their worth.

It will be interesting to see just who the former Molde man takes with him on the pre-season tour as there are several young prospects to select from.

According to the club’s official website, Ole said: “Hopefully, now Axel [Tuanzebe] can get to the play-off final and play well.

“Obviously, he’s had a couple of injuries, but he’s a boy I can’t wait to see in pre-season for us.”

Many Manchester United fans have plenty of belief in Tuanzebe and frankly are a little disappointed he wasn’t more involved given the failings of the defence this season.

Supporters feel it makes more sense to give youngsters a chance than to hang onto players they feel are deadwood.

Axel has been impressive in the Championship during his loan spell with Aston Villa and it appears he could be ready for his breakthrough.
