Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Lyon star Tanguy Ndombele who is said to be the player the club wants to replace Paul Pogba.
The former Juventus man has been tipped to leave with both Real Madrid and Barcelona the reported interested parties.
Pogba is said to be concerned with the United’s future after their failure to qualify for next season’s edition of the Champions League.
The club aren’t believed to have made a move for Ndombele just yet, choosing instead to hold off until the academy product’s future is cleared up.
However, it seems it won’t be as straightforward as planned with the Lyon star having plenty of Europe’s best clubs circling him.
According to the Express, Lyon chief Jean-Michel Aulas said: “I am in negotiations with the biggest European clubs and I revived the PSG talks myself to tell them to make sure not to feel excluded.
“I thought it was time to give PSG direction because PSG will gain more to use French clubs.
“If PSG aligns with the proposals we have and Tanguy agrees, obviously it would be nice if he goes to PSG.”
Pogba isn’t the perfect player but for all his flaws he was certainly Manchester United’s best player this season.
After all, the Frenchman was the club’s top goalscorer and top assister as well topping many other individual charts.
Paul’s inconsistency is what comes back to haunt him but United’s midfield is far worse off without him than it is with him.
Hopefully under Solskjaer’s guidance the 26 year old will show better form and squash any debate over just how good he is.
