Manchester United chase Thomas Meunier as alternative to Aaron Wan-Bissaka: report

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United are reportedly chasing PSG star Thomas Meunier after getting fed up with Crystal Palace’s negotiations for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had previously stated his desire to sign young, talented, British players but it appears he may make an exception due to the issues they’re experiencing with the London club.

Some reports claimed Palace wanted £70m for the youngster which would prove to be a world record fee for a British defender.

Given Wan-Bissaka isn’t the finished product, it makes sense United would look elsewhere and targeting the unsettled Meunier seems smart.

The need to invest in defenders this season is obvious so it’s likely any approach Solskjaer makes, teams will ask for ridiculous fees to take advantage of their desperate situation.

According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils want to ensure they get decent value for their money and so are closing in on Thomas instead of parting ways with the inflated price for Aaron.

Premier League clubs no longer have any necessity to sell due to most of them earning enough money through TV rights and the like.

Despite Manchester United’s wish to sign British players, they may be better off targeting other leagues’ clubs who may desperate for the money.
