Tottenham get advantage in race for Tanguy Ndombele: report

by Marwan Harraz

Tottenham have reportedly gotten a leg up in the race for Lyon star Tanguy Ndombele who Manchester United are said to have targeted as Paul Pogba‘s replacement.

The academy product has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for months now since admitting it would be a dream to play for them under Zinedine Zidane’s management.

Pogba’s potential transfer sparked chaos amongst those at United who were clearly keen on finding a player or two who could fill the void he would leave behind.

One of those kept on the sidelines in case anything would happen was Ndombele, whose club president admitted he would be moved on.

Manchester City and Tottenham also quickly became interested and it became apparent an auction may begin for his signature.

According to the Express, the Guardian report that Tottenham have opened talks with Tanguy to steal a march on their rivals for his signature although Lyon’s £66.6m asking price may be too steep.

The midfielder still has far too much to prove to command such a price but it’s clear interest in him has bumped up his value.

Should the Red Devils sell Paul for their reported £150m asking price then spending less than half of that on Ndombele shouldn’t be an issue.
