Paul Pogba’s wages a stumbling block for Real Madrid: report

by Marwan Harraz

Paul Pogba’s move to Real Madrid has reportedly hit a huge stumbling block much to the relief of Manchester United.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move to the Spanish side for months on end now and there appears to be no signs of it letting up.

The midfielder is said to have a desire to play under Zinedine Zidane but United are unwilling to sell their star player.

Reports claimed a £150m bid would be needed to pry him away from Old Trafford but that doesn’t appear to be what’s holding up the transfer.

It’s Pogba’s wages that are believed to be the issue despite Madrid spending excessively this summer already.

According to the Sun, L’Equipe report that Real want Paul to be more realistic of his wage demands despite him only asking for £250k a week.

The reported number really doesn’t seem much in comparison to what Gareth Bale is said to be earning which is £600k a week and Zidane doesn’t even want him there.

For a player of Pogba’s quality, £250k a week really isn’t a huge ask but it all works out in Manchester United’s favour nonetheless.

They can now spend their summer investing in players rather than finding replacements for their current crop.
