Matthijs de Ligt to turn down Manchester United for Juventus move

by Marwan Harraz

Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt will reportedly turn down a move to Manchester United and others by agreeing to a transfer to Juventus.

The Italian giants are the latest club to move ahead in the race for the Dutchman’s signature in arguably the summer’s greatest transfer saga.

The youngster is perhaps Europe’s most wanted teenager after his performances for his side, particularly in the Champions League.

United at one point appeared to be leading the pack in the hunt for De Ligt’s signature but that now feels as though it were centuries ago.

Before Juventus got their noses in front, it was believed PSG were about to confirm the centre-back’s transfer until this latest twist.

According to the Express, De Telegraaf report that Juventus are confident of signing Matthijs as they are willing to spend in excess of €70m while offering him between €15-20m per season.

That’s certainly a figure United would’ve been willing to offer but the Serie A side perhaps have more appeal to them at the moment.

De Ligt can learn from some of the greats there while playing Champions League football and can almost be guaranteed trophies.

PSG, Barcelona and Real Madrid were said to be the other clubs interested but one gets the feeling this transfer saga isn’t over yet.
