Manchester United supporters have reacted with delight after the club confirmed defender Axel Tuanzebe had signed a new long-term contract with the club.
The youngster made his senior debut under Jose Mourinho as a teenager back in 2017 and turned heads during a fantastic first Premier League outing at Arsenal.
He has since had two loan spells with Aston Villa, producing a series of superb performances during the club’s successful promotion campaign over the 2018-19 season, demonstrating deeply encouraging signs of progression in his play.
Supporters were quick to voice their pleasure at seeing United tie down one of the club’s most promising youngsters until 2022.

If Andreas Pereria’s new contract – announced less than an hour before this one – signals a good, pragmatic piece of business, securing fresh terms for Tuanzebe should be viewed as necessary.
He is, without doubt, the finest defender from the club’s academy, and looked genuinely commanding at the top end of the Championship last season. And with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer currently contending with a number of (a) aging and (b) substandard defenders in his first-team squad, Tuanzebe can mark a turn towards the future.
Supporters will expect to see him receive minutes in the Premier League next season.
