Manchester United nearing Harry Maguire deal despite Manchester City interest

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United will reportedly beat fierce rivals Manchester City to Leicester City’s Harry Maguire as the race for his signature heats up.

The Englishman appears to be set to depart the Foxes this summer with the two Manchester clubs fighting over him.

United are clearly in need of the towering centre-back even more given their defensive woes last season but City are also attempting to stay ahead of the pack.

Maguire would be an upgrade on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s current options who are either not good enough or injury prone.

Though it could be argued the Citizens have more to offer the former Hull man, it appears those at Old Trafford may just win this rat race.

According to Manchester Evening News, The Times report that the Red Devils will outbid their rivals and secure Harry’s signature in what would be their statement signing of the summer.

Manchester City have been known in the past for not going beyond their valuation of a player so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them drop out.

Manchester United will negotiate for ages as they have done with Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka but they will eventually get their man.

Maguire will definitely cost a lot given Leicester feel no pressure to sell as their finances are currently in a good state.
