David de Gea to extend Manchester United stay imminently

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United star David de Gea will confirm his new contract soon according to Sky Sports reporter James Cooper.

The Spaniard’s current deal ends next summer, sparking a rat race over his signature with PSG and Juventus the main interested parties.

Signing the world-class goalkeeper would be the joy of any club but to sign him for free is even more pleasing.

United had a tough task in convincing him to remain, particularly with their failure to qualify for the Champions League this season.

De Gea would be right to think selfishly for once after giving many years to the club but it appears he’s decided to stay.

Cooper’s comments fall in line with what other reports claimed which was that David would sign after the club’s pre-season.

It’s understandable that Manchester United would prefer not to have any distractions at the moment during such a key team.

The club arguably face their most crucial season since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement as they could disappear into the history books or begin a new winning era.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can start that brilliant era by securing De Gea’s future in what will be fantastic news for all those involved with the club.
