Gianluca Di Marzio: Inter Milan make improved £63m offer plus bonuses for Romelu Lukaku

by Leo Nieboer

Reliable journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has confirmed that Inter Milan are preparing a fresh offer of £63m plus bonuses to sign Romelu Lukaku this summer.

Antonio Conte, who unsuccessfully attempted to sign Lukaku back at Chelsea in 2017, has placed a strong emphasis on landing the Belgian’s signature at the San Siro this summer, with the new manager hellbent on dispensing with Mauro Icardi.

However, Inter’s most recent offer of £54m was flatly rejected by United, who will only sell Lukaku if they make a profit on the £75m they paid for him two years ago.

According to Di Marzio, the closest thing you will get to an actual transfer oracle, Inter have returned with an offer of £63m and the promise of bonuses.

Given that United paid £75m for Lukaku, plus bonuses which could amount to the fee becoming closer to £90m, it seems as if Inter, once again, are wide of the mark. United understandably want to make a profit on Lukaku – especially in today’s market – but the Serie A side, as things stand, are unwilling to splash out that big.

Perhaps they will finally play ball after a report from Fabrizio Romano (also very reliable) stating that Juventus, with Inter stalling, were willing to include Paolo Dybala in a deal to sign Lukaku. This story certainly isn’t going anywhere.
