Manchester United fans were absolutely delighted to see Michael Carrick play football once again with some of them even calling for him to leave retirement.
The experienced Englishman would certainly be needed in his club’s otherwise thin midfield but unfortunately he’s only a coach at the moment.
Despite other football fans never truly showing appreciation for Carrick, United supporters were always vocal in their love for him.
It’s fair to say none of them strike fear into opponents’ hearts other than the sensational Frenchman so it’s understandable fans are somewhat joking in their calls to bring Carrick back.
Michael Carrick has performed better in this charity match than our midfielders have all season. Bring back Carrick. #mufc

Matic was actually seen as the ideal Carrick replacement but unfortunately that plan hasn’t quite worked out with Solskjaer preferring McTominay alongside Pogba.
Paul Scholes famously came out of retirement to inspire Manchester United to a Premier League title so it’s not completely unheard of but it is entirely unlikely.
Instead, Carrick’s job will now be on what goes on behind the scenes as he aims to whip Solskjaer’s stars into shape after what has been so far a disappointing start to their season.
