Manchester United fans delighted with Victor Lindelof contract renewal

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United fans have been thoroughly surprised with deals for David de Gea and Victor Lindelof wrapped up as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer secures the future of some of his key players.

The ball-playing Swede has been Harry Maguire’s main partner in the centre of the defence and it’s clearly a partnership that is looking to blossom.

Lindelof arrived at United with expectations he would grow into a top centre-back but it’s fair to say his debut season did not go well.

Some supporters even turned on him that quickly but his second season went much better as he solidified himself as the club’s best centre-back.

Solskjaer is clearly a fan as well and has tied Lindelof down early in order to avoid any true speculation over his future.

Lindelof’s deal runs until 2024 with an additional optional year and there’s little doubt he will see out that deal.

This does raise question marks over Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe’s futures at the club but it’s all healthy competition in the end of the day.

Solskjaer is unlikely to turn to a back five to fit most of them in but it’s down to the two aforementioned names to fight for their places in the starting XI.
