Alan Shearer criticises Marcus Rashford for waiting for the ball

by Marwan Harraz

Pundit Alan Shearer has called for Marcus Rashford to stop waiting for the ball to come to him to improve his centre-forward play.

The English youngster has come under fire this season for his lack of goals from open play having only netted once in the six fixtures played so far.

Rashford’s true numbers are three goals and one assist in six matches which doesn’t read poorly at all but of course two were scored from the penalty spot.

In Anthony Martial‘s absence, the academy product has struggled to prove why he should be leading the line for United and Shearer has called on him to do more.

Rashford has picked up a timely injury that will leave him out for a few games and that works out for him as it will take him out of the spotlight for a bit.

Shearer’s points are all valid but the truth is Rashford didn’t look comfortable the whole time he was on the field against West Ham.

It didn’t seem to be a fatigue issue but rather as if he was playing with an injury and he ended up having to be substituted off.

Normally Rashford makes all the right moves and rather it’s his lack of clinical edge that is the real issue rather than anything else.
