Player Ratings: Manchester United 1-1 Rochdale

by Marwan Harraz

Sergio Romero 6 – Hardly had a touch of the ball as Manchester United defended fairly well until the conceded effort.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka6 – Gave possession away a couple of times but the main concern lies in his lack of attacking nature.

Phil Jones 6 – Only lasted 45 minutes but was otherwise untroubled alongside his defensive partner.

Axel Tuanzebe 7 – Captained the team on the night and did not drop his standards. Composed, strong and brilliant on the ball. Can’t imagine it’s too long before he’s starting in the league too.

Marcos Rojo 6 – Had a half as a left-back and a half as a centre-back and was decent in both positions. Was definitely more effective against Astana but still ok here too.

Fred 5 – Another who was better against Astana. Probably not done enough to convince Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to play him in the league just yet.

Paul Pogba 6 – Not bad and not good. You’d expect more from a world-class talent against League One opposition.

Andreas Pereira 4 – Horrible night for him. Lost possession so often and failed to impress on either flank. Lost his man for Rochdale’s equaliser.

Jesse Lingard 4 – It was easy to forget he was even on the pitch. Weirdly out of form for quite some time now.

Tahith Chong 4 – Another who will want to forget this fixture. Was bright enough to constantly take on his man but he’s seemingly forgotten how to dribble and almost always lost out.

Mason Greenwood 7 – Had chance after chance after chance. Almost looked like he’d never score before he netted superbly.
