Inter Milan hope to secure Nemanja Matic for cheap in January

by Marwan Harraz

Inter Milan are reportedly keen on signing Manchester United star Nemanja Matic which is sure to please fans who feel he no longer has much to offer.

Of course there’ll be some hesitancy as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s side have failed to replace Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini let alone the experienced Serbian.

Selling without purchasing once again would be a huge mistake and United are better off just holding on to Matic even if it’s just to let him go for free in the summer.

The former Chelsea man’s contract expires next year so his value has certainly dropped though the club do have a one year extension trigger if they’d like.

It’s likely Solskjaer would rather move on the ageing midfielder having hardly played him since the preference has been on Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba.

According to Sport Witness, Inter could purchase Matic in January if he proves to be a low cost target and asks to leave the Red Devils.

Jose Mourinho spent £40m on recruiting the former Benfica man with most fans believing he’s the ideal player to replace the then old Michael Carrick.

In the end however, Manchester United only got a good six months out of Matic before he became relatively average.
