Aaron Wan-Bissaka produces another quietly brilliant performance against Norwich City

by Leo Nieboer

Aaron Wan-Bissaka gave another impeccable defensive display during Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Norwich City at Carrow Road.

The defender, signed for £50m over the summer, has been possibly United’s most consistent performer since the start of the season.

His performance against Norwich was one of remarkable control from start to finish, hardly ever straying into a wrong position or loosing the ball, maintaining a sense of calm down that right hand side.

Wan-Bissaka’s stats from the game tell the story of a truly all-encompassing performance.

While attention has shifted strongly towards United’s new-found potency in front of goal following the return of Anthony Martial, one thing has remained unequivocally the same: Aaron Wan-Bissaka is really, really good at defending.

It seems hardwired into him: when to put pressure on the ball, when to sit back and keep a position; how to tackle with your body in the right way; how to read a pattern of play before it actually happens.

For a 21-year-old who only made his senior debut two years ago, his understanding of the game is sensational. His performance in East Anglia was illustrative of a player whose ceiling is incredibly high.
