Player ratings: Manchester United 3-0 Partizan Belgrade

Sergio Romero N/A – Was not seriously tested.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 6 – Hardly had to break a sweat from a defensive point of view. Supplied a couple of good crosses early on.

Harry Maguire 5 – Shouldn’t have started in the first place. Made a number of uncharacteristic loose passes.

Marcos Rojo 7 – The most accomplished player on the pitch. I love making memes out of this guy, but when fit, he can play.

Ashley Young 5 – Claimed a very nice assist but that was the only piece of subtlety to his performance. Was often miles out of position.

Scott McTominay 7 – Once again so commanding in the middle, visibly bigger than the rest in both physicality and spirit. Came off with a knock.

Fred 6 – Faded in and out of the game but produced some attractive, incisive passes going forward. Came off for James Garner on 60 minutes.

Juan Mata 7 – Against an opponent that is notably slower, Mata wreaks havoc. Found all kinds of nice spaces and angles to work with.

Anthony Martial 7 – United are so, so much better with Martial playing down the middle. Glided past four players before poking past the keeper for what was a beautiful goal.

Marcus Rashford 7 – Probably did not need to start and missed some brilliant chances at the start, but his application – rewarded with a thunderous finish for United’s third – set the tone for a dominant performance.

Mason Greenwood 6 – His overall link up play can certainly improve but the youngster did what he always does: scored a goal. That it was his only chance of the game is a testament to how clinical he is in the box.
