Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted at the club’s potential next captain after praising Harry Maguire’s impact at the club so far.
Ashley Young is the official captain this season but he’s shared the armband with the likes of David de Gea, Nemanja Matic and the aforementioned former Leicester City man.
The veteran full-back is probably not going to get an extension to his contract and could be let go next summer so it will call for a new captain.
Maguire only just arrived at Old Trafford months ago but that hasn’t stopped Solskjaer from naming him captain so fans could see him wearing the armband regularly next season.
On paper there’s hardly any real contenders with maybe just De Gea but even he would probably admit he’s not a natural born leader.
Significant this. OGS: "Harry has come in and been excellent in the dressing room and on the pitch. Can be a long term captain."

A youthful United side means a lack of true captain material but there have been some calls for Scott McTominay to be given the armband eventually while some were asking for Victor Lindelof last season.
If Anthony Martial continues being talismanic for his side too then there’s no real reason why he shouldn’t be handed the captaincy either.
Lastly, Paul Pogba is the final option but fans may not be too happy with that given his flirtation with Real Madrid last summer.
