Manchester United will reportedly face competition from David Beckham’s new MLS side Inter Miami for Mario Mandzukic in January, according to reports.
Juventus and United are said to have reached an agreement for the transfer of Mandzukic in January for a fee of around £10m.
The player is free to leave Turin in January following new manager Maurizio Sarri’s decision to exclude him from his plans.
According to Calcio Mercato, however, Beckham is interested in making Mandzukic his first major signing at the Miami club, which plays its first game next year.
United remain strong favourites to sign Mandzukic, who you suspect wants to keep playing at a high level despite being 33 years old – something exemplified by his decision to reject the prospect of a move to Qatar.
Reports have even claimed that Mandzukic will move to Manchester in December as a means of getting back up to speed ahead of formally joining the club.
Despite the impressive dovetailing of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in recent times, United remain in desperate need of players capable of bringing some experience and maturity to game situations.
