Aston Villa name their price for Manchester United target John McGinn

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United have reportedly been told what Aston Villa’s price-tag for John McGinn is having been interested in him for some time now.

Interest initially sparked during the summer with some rumours claiming Sir Alex Ferguson himself called for the signing of the talented Scotsman.

McGinn has made quite the impact at Villa with his performances last season instrumental in their promotion to the Premier League.

He’s continued to grow in his role this campaign as well which has seen rumours naturally grow even more given United’s own desperation.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s need for depth in a young squad is already obvious and so it’s believed he’ll make a signing or two in January.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Villa have placed a £50m price-tag on his head with the Red Devils being aware that a move in the summer is more likely than the upcoming winter transfer window.

In truth it feels unlikely Solskjaer will spend £50m on the relatively low-key signing of McGinn though no one expected him to sign Harry Maguire for such a fee either.

Nonetheless, the legendary Norwegian has invested well in all three signings so far so if he does want to bring in the 25 year old, he must be given the benefit of the doubt.
