Brandon Williams proving a hit amongst Manchester United first-team

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United starlet Brandon Williams is said to be impressing his first-team teammates after making the step up from the club’s academy.

The young defender has also become a fan-favourite quickly and that is a testament to how well he’s performed in such a short span of time.

Some supporters have even asked for Williams to replace the injured Luke Shaw permanently despite only playing in a handful of matches so far.

The 19 year old still has a lot to do but the way he’s handled himself and conducted himself so far has convinced many of his talent.

A right-footed left-back is rare in modern football yet Williams has slowly begun to make a name for himself.

According to the Mirror, a United source said: “Brandon is making a big name for himself, especially among the senior players.

“He is a talented footballer and everyone likes his attitude and willingness to get stuck in.

“He’s got a mean streak that Marcos Rojo loves! Everyone inside the club thinks he’s got a big future ahead of him, and that’s been recognised with the manager happy to play him against Brighton.

“There’s a lot of talk that he’s the future at left-back, sooner rather than later.

“Trent Alexander-Arnold has been fast-tracked at Liverpool and everyone can see the same happening with Brandon.”

It’s unlikely any Manchester United fan will want Shaw back in the starting XI if Williams keeps up his performances.

While the former Southampton man has been decent, he hasn’t really been impressive over a long period of time.

Shaw’s injuries have rendered him an average player with solid defending but United need more than that from their stars.

Williams’ willingness to burst forwards has proven a real asset and he hasn’t abandoned his defensive duties either.

Fans also love his aggressive and tenacious nature and the hope is he can go the distance.
