Former Manchester City man and current Roma star Edin Dzeko has reportedly become the player Manchester United have turned to for reinforcements this winter.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested there will be one or two new faces at Old Trafford this January but only if the deals themselves are reasonable.
Juventus’ Mario Mandzukic has been the main link with United so far, particularly since a summer move is said to have fallen through.
Perhaps signing the Croatian has proven too difficult and so Solskjaer has moved on elsewhere or perhaps it has to do with his lack of minutes this season.
Nonetheless, the need to invest this winter is obvious and it will be interesting to see who, in the end, is brought in.
According to ESPN, Dzeko has overtaken Mandzukic on the Red Devils’ list of targets with Solskjaer keen to add experience and a proven goalscorer this January to an otherwise young attack.
Fans aren’t particularly excited by either signing but there haven’t been outright rage over them as the reason behind any investment is understandable.
