Romelu Lukaku insists Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plan didn’t suit him

Inter Milan star Romelu Lukaku has revealed the exact moment he decided to leave Manchester United much to the surprise of fans.

The clinical Belgian secured a transfer to the Serie A during the summer with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer failing to sign a replacement.

That decision ended up haunting the legendary Norwegian as an injury to Anthony Martial saw United struggle to get by.

Lukaku has certainly enjoyed his time at Inter so far and the main reason it was believed he departed in the first place was due to his desire to get away.

However, it seems the former Everton man actually left because of Solskjaer’s plan for him in the first-team.

One can certainly see Lukaku’s point of view given how he sees himself as a striker but he did enjoy small spells of success as a right-winger on occasion.

Perhaps it’s something that could’ve worked long-term had he given it a chance since he is left-footed and can cut inside to do great damage.

Juventus’ Mario Mandzukic is also perfect evidence of a flank target-man enjoying plenty of success since it’s such an unorthodox role.

Full-backs tend to be smaller in size in comparison to centre-backs as well so Lukaku could’ve bullied them if he wanted to, in theory at least.
