Jamie Carragher blasts Paul Pogba for unimpressive Manchester United career

by Marwan Harraz

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has blasted Paul Pogba after some recent poor form, claiming he should be moved on.

The pundit jumped on the bandwagon calling for the French World Cup winner to be sold as his contract starts to get close to running out.

It’s understood the talented midfielder’s deal runs out in 2022 and there were rumours he’d be handed a new deal but Manchester United fans have yet to see any evidence of that.

With Pogba looking out of sorts this season, there are doubts his future even lies at Old Trafford, with some supporters insisting the time to cash in on him is now.

The academy graduate has been at the club since 2016 but is arguably still the most divisive player in the squad.

According to talkSPORT, Carragher said: “He’s possibly never done well in any position or tactical set up that different managers have had.

“Would I pick him in the Manchester United team? No, I wouldn’t. He’s a huge name, he’s come for a huge transfer fee, but I don’t think he’s a great player.

“People say he’s won the World Cup and I get that. But when he came in I thought he might have the impact like [Frank] Lampard at Chelsea, [Steven] Gerrard at Liverpool, Yaya Toure at Man City – those players drove their team to titles, European Cups.

“When you’re that man who’s seen as the one to take United to the next level, which people might say it’s too much pressure to put on one man, but that’s what we were told was coming.

“It just hasn’t happened for him at Manchester United. For me, I’d be looking to move him on.”

Carragher goes on to claim Pogba is undisciplined and that he and Bruno Fernandes cannot successfully feature in the same starting XI.

If true, t’s a dilemma Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brought on himself as he was the one who bought the Portuguese magician back in January.

That’s not to say Bruno wasn’t needed because he was and he has been a success ever since making the switch.

However, if Pogba is moved on then naturally that’s where the discussion will lead to and whether or not Solskjaer did enough to get the best out of him.
