Journalist David Ornstein has made a rather interesting claim on Aston Villa star Jack Grealish and the Manchester United squad.
The versatile Englishman was subject to heavy interest from those at Old Trafford but no concrete offer came in.
Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho was always the priority and by the time United realised he was no longer an option, Grealish was off the market as well.
The talented midfielder renewed his contract with Villa and doesn’t seem to be parting ways any time soon, at least on paper.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must be ruing the missed opportunity as the player is currently enjoying a remarkable season for the Birmingham club so far.
On the Tifo Podcast Youtube channel, Ornstein revealed that a few of those in the Red Devils squad jokingly asked Grealish when he was going to join, though there was nothing from Solskjaer of that sort.
The supposed incident happened when the two clubs faced each other in a pre-season friendly, a match that Villa scraped by 1-0.
There’s a possibility the Manchester United players were joking about it because it was what was fresh in the press at the time.
However, it’s also possible they wanted the deal to happen and were joking but not really joking with Grealish to nudge him towards perhaps forcing a move through.
