Bruno Fernandes takes the plaudits in amazing Champions League performance

Bruno Fernandes put in another man-of-the-match performance as Manchester United cruised past Istanbul Basaksehir 4-1 to come within one point of qualifying from their difficult Champions League group H.

Fernandes scored two first half goals and unselfishly allowed Marcus Rashford to take the penalty for the third goal when he was on a hat-trick.

Fans flooded social media with praise for the talismanic Fernandes, who now has 16 goal involvements in 14 games in European competition since the start of last season.

Comments included:

‘Bruno Fernandes plays for my football club and there’s absolutely nothing anyone can do about it.’

‘Bruno Fernandes could’ve scored a hat-trick, but handed the ball to Marcus Rashford instead’

‘People can say Bruno Fernandes only scores penalties, but, in reality, he’s the heart and pulse of United’s offence. He influences their attacks both when he’s on and off the ball (runs, instructions, etc). 21 goals and 15 assists in 35 matches says it all.’

‘I don’t remember life before he, Bruno Fernandes joined the club and to be totally honest with you all I don’t actually want to. What an extraordinary footballer he’s become in such a short period of time.’

United have had some world class goalkeepers over the years and some entertaining ones too. Take our quiz below to find out how much you know about United’s number 1’s, past and present.
